Bani Yas Island, home to hundreds of animals unique to the region including the Arabian Oryx and gazelles, saw a special rescue operation recently.
A hyena, named ‘Brutus’ got a medical.
‘Brutus’, brought in from the wild, was put on a thick cloth in preparation for his examination at a veterinary clinic.
X-rays of the ribs to showed that he was injured in a fight with another hyena.
The last stage of the examination was his heartbeat, where the doctors used a mobile phone to measure the pulse before returning the hyena to the reserve.
