George Clooney has admitted he often feels like an "idiot" when he has a discussion with his human rights lawyer wife because he thinks she's more intelligent than he is.

The 54-year-old actor believes the human rights lawyer, whom he married last year, is much more intelligent than he is and he often feels silly when they have a discussion.

Speaking to New York Daily News' Confidenti@l page, he explained: "Often times I feel like an idiot talking to my own wife. It's never good."

The couple celebrated their one-year anniversary on Sunday with a quiet dinner at the Sunset Tower Hotel's Tower Bar in West Hollywood, and he admitted he let the 37-year-old barrister choose the restaurant because he's a "creature of habit" and will never venture to anywhere new.

He said: "I might want to just go down the street to the same sushi bar that I could eat four nights a week.

"And she's like, 'No that's not going to happen. Not for the anniversary we're not going to do that.' "

Meanwhile, the 'Monuments Men' star recently said marriage has definitely been a learning curve for him over the past 12 months but he remained tight-lipped on what has changed for him because he didn't want to "upset" his gorgeous wife.

Asked what he's learned this year, he told People magazine: "That's a good question, but I can't officially tell you any of those things because that would be wrong, and she would be upset that I told anyone what I've learned."

The 'Divergent' star will reach the milestone age on October 5 and, although she wants a big bash to celebrate the occasion, she's hoping she'll be gifted the culinary device so she can start making some "bone broths" to keep her well throughout the winter.

She told E! News of her birthday plans: "I'm going to look amazing and I'm going to celebrate in style. I'd quite like a pressure cooker. I want to start making bone broths!"

Her 'Steve Jobs' co-star Michael Fassbender chimed in during the joint interview with a puzzled facial expression, asking: "What does that entail?"

Kate then explained: "Taking a whole bunch of bones and putting them in a pressure cooker with lots of chopped up leeks and onions and celery and all that stuff and you make this amazing restorative bone broth ... You boil it up for like 12 hours and it cures you of all ailments."

Clearly impressed, Michael, 38, offered to buy her the device, providing she makes him a broth in return.

He cheekily said: "I will get you the pressure cooker if you will cook me one of those bone broths."

Meanwhile, the stunning starlet - who has over 30 films under her belt - feels very content about going into the next chapter of her life following the success of the last few years.

And Kate - who has children Mia, 14, with first husband Jim Threapleton, son Joe, 11, with second spouse Sam Mendes and 21-month-old son Bear with current husband Ned Rocknroll - is determined to continue her success into 40s and already has a number of projects lined up for the future.

Justin Bieber seeing new girl

Justin Bieber thinks he will always compare his relationships to what he had with Selena Gomez and admits it has affected his behaviour in his new romance.

The 'What Do You Mean' singer admits there are certain situations he is shy of because he is "scarred" from his relationship with Selena Gomez - who he had an on/off romance with between 2011 until 2014 - and how she reacted to certain situations.

Asked if he thinks he'll compare all his future relationships to what he had with Selena, he said: "Yeah. You get scarred from certain things. Even like - I'm kind of seeing this girl, right? I'm shy about doing or saying certain things, and then I say it and it's not even a problem.

(Instagram)

"And I'll remember when I couldn't.... You're just scarred and you don't do something because in your last relationship they'd freak out, but [the new person is] just like, 'What are you talking about?' "

The 21-year-old star also revealed he used to live with Selena and thinks their relationship hit the rocks because it was so intense.

He explained to the new issue of Complex magazine: "I moved in with my girlfriend when I was 18. Started my own life with her. It was a marriage kind of thing.

(Instagram)

"Living with a girl, it was just too much at that age. But we were so in love. Nothing else mattered.

"We were all about each other. But when it's like that and you get your value from that, people will always disappoint you. Your girl or your dude, they're always going to disappoint you.

"Your full identity can't be in that person. My identity was in her. Her identity was in me.

"When stuff would happen, I would lose my freakin' mind, and she would lose her mind, and we would fight so hard because we were so invested in each other."
